The Christian HIV/AIDS Alliance is a network of Christian agencies, churches and individuals praying and working together to serve and empower those affected by HIV and AIDS

Our Vision is to see a mobilised UK Christian community which is aware of and active in compassionate Christian responses to the global HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Our Mission is to facilitate compassionate, strategic Christian responses to the global HIV/AIDS pandemic by working together as an Alliance to educate, inform and challenge the UK Christian community. 


 

 
CHAA and ACET Broadcasts to the UK on the BBC

IMG_6130CHAA Vice Chair, Rev Alan Bain, broadcast on eight BBC Radio stations across the UK to mark World AIDS day 2009. Speaking of the work of CHAA member ACET UK, Rev Bain also spoke of the need to be vigilant  because of the 8% rise in infections in the UK.

Rev Bain was interviewed on BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Kent, BBC Tees, BBC Cambs, BBC West Midlands, BBC Bristol, BBC Leeds and BBC Stoke.

UNAIDS,  Patnership Advisor, Sally Smith, said " Well done to you all for this. Thank you for all the work that you are doing on HIV."

CHAA Visit to ACET work in Ukraine

acet-smallRev. Alan Bain, Vice Chair of CHAA visited CHAA member, ACET's, work in Odessa in the Ukraine in November. He said "The ACET team is involved at a very deep level in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Odessa ; a centre for sex traffiking to Europe. The ACET team are doing an invaluable work in the prevention of HIV increase in the area." See more of Alan's report here.

 


 
CHAA at PWM Conference

The conference draws together the mission partners from the Anglican communion who are involved in links  throughout the world. Fresh doubts on "AIDS Vaccine"

aids_vaccineWhen the U.S. Army and its collaborators in Thailand announced that a large clinical trial of an AIDS vaccine had lowered the rate of new HIV infections by about one-third, researchers were encouraged. Although it was only a modest reduction, it was the first positive result from any AIDS vaccine trial.

Now some researchers who have seen more of the data in confidential briefings are complaining that a fuller analysis undermines even cautious claims of success, and they are raising questions about the way the results were announced. See more here.


 
Cautious welcome to "AIDS Vaccine"

A cautious welcome has been given to the announcement of a new Vaccine to fight AIDS. The Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise hailed a significant results from HIV vaccine study in Thailand this week. See further details here
